  Banh Thai has been my family's go-to Thai place in Fremont for more than a decade. We love it not only because of the wonderful food, but also the generous portions, good prices, and old-school mom-and-pop shop feel. (I'm really not sure what the big fuss is about all the Sala Thais around town, when one could enjoy a better and more reasonably-priced meal a couple of minutes away!)
  
  This may not be the most hip and trendy restaurant, but their food is REALLY good. I often feel Thai food is made to be too sweet or salty and this is where Banh Thai hits the mark. The flavors are wonderful and I'm never disappointed. My favorites are the Pad See Ew and Pad Kee Mao, but everything I've ever had here has been absolutely spot-on.
  
  Service is pretty fast here and the man who we often see working there is very kind and always happy to help. Lunch menu prices cannot be beat.
  
  Shoutout to Banh Thai; we love you! For those of you reading this, please support one of my favorite local businesses in Fremont!

  TLDR: Good food, slow and unstructured service. Great for takeout. Easy to find spot on weekend but frail service
   
  Banh Thai is an arduous place to describe. Probably one of the rare places where you can find spot on weekend. Shared parking spaces are good in number. Place is huge but has a very unexciting interior with uncomfortable chairs and sticky tables. We honestly saw only one server for the entire place - an old man - trying to do his best but lacked energy and enthusiasm expected out of restaurant industry. Our requests for water were not up to mark and tried to put blame back on us for some foreign material in our water glasses to refill. (The point is not to debate whose mistake it is, just replace it without much fanfare). Our orders arrived all at once which is always difficult to keep up cherishing each item.
   
  The food was good.
  
  Thai ice tea - Extremely fraudulent. It's Thai tea boiled in water with creamer sachets on the side. What happened to condensed or evaporated milk or coconut milk that is an essential ingredient? Disappointing.
  
  Orange juice - Sour to the point of abandon all hope.
  
  Tom Yum and Tom Kha soup - good in taste. Sadly the minimum portion size is 2 cups which is huge!
  
  Basil Tofu - Crisp and flavorful
  
  Red and Panang Curry - All vegetarian curries come with only vegetables and tofu is $2 extra which doesn't make sense looking at the cost. We couldn't differentiate between the 2 curries at all.
  
  Ban Thai Fried rice - Good taste.
  
  Papaya Salad - well made. Dressing is light and flavorful
  
   
  The dine in service can surely use a boost. Food is great - so next time, will try take out.

  I ordered a spicy panang curry thru GrubHub for pickup and I couldn't be disappointed. I noticed other reviewers (including me) being charged a service fee for takeout but I didn't encounter anything. All payments were handled by GrubHub and they handed me the food.
  
  I ordered my food on a weekday around lunchtime and I noticed not a lot of people were dining in. Personally I think that the food was pretty good. The panang curry had hints of peanut in it which I really enjoyed and there was plenty of meat for every bite.
  
  Protip: rice was a $3 add on so plan accordingly

  I came here with my family friends and we got seated right away. We ordered a bunch of food: Fried Rice, Chicken Pad Thai, Green Curry, Crispy Garlic Fish, Chicken Skewers. The food came in about 15 minutes.
  
  Fried Rice- I liked the shrimp in the fried rice, I just wish there were more. It was tender, thankfully, not over-cooked. The rice was okay, but a little on the soggy side. There was a fair amount of pineapple.
  
  Chicken Pad Thai- I wish there was more bean sprouts. It would have added a more crunch and variation in texture. The flavors of the dish was pretty good and the noodles were cooked nicely. The chicken was okay, wasn't extremely dry or juicy.
  
  Green Curry- Didn't like this one as much. I had ordered green curry at another restaurant and loved it, but this one wasn't the best. First off, it was way too sweet for my taste. Since the curry was too sweet, it made the bamboo shoots, meat, and carrots extremely sweet. I would not order this again.
  
  Crispy Garlic Fish- Definitely a must. The fish was super crispy and the garlic sauce that coated it was perfect. The fish was soooo tender. Probably the best crispy garlic fish I've had in a long long time. I absolutely would order this again.
  
  Chicken Skewers- The chicken was pretty tender, but didn't have a lot of flavor. It came with peanut sauce which, to be honest, did not pair well with the chicken.
  
  Overall, I would come here again and order that delicious CRISPY GARLIC FISH.
